Over the decades, I\u2019ve played in 8 states and Washington, DC. <\/b>My all-time favorite place to play was the Club Lakewood in <\/b>Martinsburg, WV. I played there frequently with my band Silver Queen during the mid-70s. The club had a nice stage, excellent room acoustics and great fans.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
Most important, however, was the owner, Dave Boyd, a great man and business owner to play for. He was part of the \u201cGreatest Generation.\u201d <\/b>I had noticed a tattoo on his arm that said, \u201cIwo Jima, USMC.\u201d I cannot even imagine what that experience was like. <\/b><\/p>\n
Having an interest in WW II history, I have always enjoyed talking with <\/b>WW II vets, or more accurately, letting them do the talking. <\/b>I had always wanted to talk with him about it, but not knowing if he would have been receptive, I, regrettably, never did. I never forgot him. A few years ago I became aware of his passing. Here is a photo of his grave site which says it all.<\/b><\/p>\n
